MINUTES FOR 1/22/97 CLUB MEETING

The meeting started at 11:35 A.M.. The Toastmaster of the Day was Jeff Bolognese. Pat Greco gave the Thought of the Day. There were three prepared speeches : John Croft talked about "Career Choices"; Regina Cody presented "Advance with the New Toastmaster Education Program"; and Evette Brown-Conwell gave her #10 speech from the Basic Manual on "The Quality of Life".

Congratulation, Evette, for completion of the Basic Manual and becoming a CTM !!

There were nine Table Topics contestants : Angie Upshur talked about what to do if she left the restaurant without paying for the meal; Eva Illescas shared about what to do if she got reimbursement from the insurance company about her lost gold watch, and she found the watch later on; Maureen Armbruster talked about what to do if her neighbor practicing yoga exercise in the nude; Chris Scherer shared about what he would do if his friends wanted to borrow his software ; Jim McLean commented about what to do if his sister was engaged to marry a man who was bad news; Jeff Bolognese talked about what he would do if he found his wife's diary laying around the table opened; Dave Brown talked about what to do if he was a witness to car accident; Claudia Brevard shared about what to do if she has a $2.00 student discount for movie; and Connie Houchens commented what she would do if the company she worked for was conducting shoddy and dangerous work.

The General Evaluator wasMartha O'Bryan. Pat McHale evaluated John Croft. Herb Blodget evaluated Regina Cody. Jane Liu evaluated Evette Brown-Conwell. The Whisker Counter was Connie Houchens. The Time Keeper was Jim McLean. Grammarian was Chris Scherer. The Ballot Counter was Maureen Armbruster.

The best Table Topics contestants was Angie Upshur. The best evaluator was Pat McHale. The best speaker was John Croft. The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 P.M..

Business News :

-- Our Area Governor, Lou Seifer, went through heart by-pass surgery. He is currently resting at home. His family and doctor were pleased with his progress.

-- Claudia Brevard is retiring, and her last day will be next Friday, January 31, 1997. She will continue coming to the meeting after retiring.
